Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 large Onions, finely diced
  • 4 large Carrots, finely diced
  • 1 cup Frozen Peas
  • 3 sprig Thyme, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 6 oz Red Cooking Wine
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 cup Chicken Stock
  • 6 cups Potatoes, Cooked and mashed
  • 1 large Egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 400. 2. Saute' carrots in olive oil until they are tender. Add in onions and saute for a minute then add in meat. Season with black pepper and thyme. Cook until browned and then drain any fat. 3. Add the butter and peas.Sprinkle with flour and stir to combine. Add tomato paste, red cooking wine and worcestershire sauce. Let this reduce slightly until you have a gravy like consistency. Season to your taste. 4. Remove from heat. Grease a 9x13 pan and add the mixture. Spoon the potatoes over the top and brush with the egg and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake for about 20 minutes until top is slightly browned.
